“After all my decades of training, I realized that civilians are never given the opportunity of learning the secret skillsets that are taught to elite government and military special operatives. Martial arts don’t come close to what is required to meet the demands of life or death situations that civilians all over the world are experiencing, at work, at school, in restaurants, on vacation and in their own homes. An efficient and effective program was desperately needed for people to face and defeat these violent threats to themselves and their families. I designed COMBATIVS to meet this demand.”
COMBATIVS Founder and Director Al Collins
Director Al Collins was trained by his father, who was a WWII combat-decorated British Commando, trained by the father of modern combatives, Colonel William E. Fairbairn, at Scotland’s Achnacarry Commando Training Center.
Over the years, Director Collins trained with several other Close Quarter Combat instructors and was certified as a CQC Instructor at the Close Quarter Combat Skills Institute in the USA. For over 30 years, the Institute trained many international military and government special operatives, such as the CIA, US Secret Service, US Military SOG, DEA, SWAT, and Counter-terrorism and Special Mission Units. This Institute ceased operations in 2018.
Director Collins is a Black Belt in a combat martial art and over the last 50+ years has trained with Grandmasters, Masters and Instructors in such systems as Brazilian Jujitsu, Chuck Norris UFAF, Judo, Kickboxing, Shaolin White Crane Kung Fu, Shotokan Karate, Tai Chi and Tang Soo Do.
He is a lifelong hunter and a marksman with handgun, shotgun and rifle.
“Combativs is a self-defense program that cuts right to the chase, eliminating any redundant movements that get in the way of efficiency and achieving your target: to save your life and the lives of your loved ones.
Combativs is not a martial art and does not deal with redundant katas, extreme discipline or sportsmanship; it’s about survival and getting the job done. Training is not based just on teaching you the actual physical moves, but also on preparing you psychologically through behavioural engineering so you can be prepared to face any situation you might encounter: a dark alley, an isolated parking lot at night, a break-and-enter, etc. In such situations your purpose is to survive and protect your loved ones, anything else will get you killed.
Through economy of movement, years of research of what works out in the field and behavioural engineering, Combativs provides one of the best self-defense training courses out there. It is easy to learn, the moves are ergonomic and natural to the human body, simple yet deadly. No martial art training or any kind of physical training is required. It is designed for the average person of reasonable health and strength. Anyone can learn it.”
